Sasanka Perera

Professor Sasanka Perera is the Vice President of South Asian University, New Delhi and the Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Perera completed his MA and Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from University of California, Santa Barbara. He also served at the Department of Sociology at the University of Colombo for a period of 19 years prior to joining the South Asian University in 2011. His research focuses on contemporary social theory with an emphasis on the idea of culture and its politics. He also focuses on issues such as political violence, nationalism and post-violence trauma, transformation and politicization of religion in Sri Lanka and Nepal and politics of memory, interpretation of culture and the politics of visual arts.
