Dr. Aishath Ali Naaz is a clinical psychologist, gang specialist, trainer, life coach, writer and founder of MIPSTAR. She has a PhD in Clinical Psychology (2010), from The University of Manchester, UK. In her thesis she explored the relationship between psychosis, substance abuse, aggression and violence in a South Asian sample from India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. 

Dr. Naaz has a M.Phil in Clinical Psychology from NIMHANS, India (1999) and holds a Msc in Psychology, India (1996); B.A in Psychology, Sociology and English, India (1994) She has a post graduate Diploma in Journalism, India (1995); Diploma in Hypnotherapy (2009, 2010), UK and has attended training on Cognitive Behavior Therapy from the Oxford CBT Training Centre (2010), UK. In the ‘16th International Gang Specialist Training Conference, Chicago, USA, 2013 she was certified as an International gang specialist trainer. She was the national consultant and lead researcher of the Rapid Situation Assessment of Gangs in Male’ Asia Foundation Publication, 2012; ‘Prison Assessment and proposed Rehabilitation and Re-integration of offenders’, UNDP publication, Maldives 2011; Rapid Situation Assessment of Drug Abuse in Maldives, UNDP/FASHAN/NCB publication, 2003. She has written 5 novels in her local language on various psycho-social issues, 3 of which received national awards for fictional novel writing. She has also have received the National Award of Encouragement for developing psychology and field of mental health in Maldives. Dr. Naaz writes to local magazines, is a blogger and uses social media as a tool to reach and interact with young people.
